INVERHAUGH RENOVATION
This tired country bungalow's primary suite needed a refresh. We renovated the bedrooms, bathrooms, and laundry to update and make a more functional layout.
PROJECT SUMMARY
This renovation project focused on the bedrooms, bathrooms, and laundry room in a traditionally laid out country bungalow. The private wing of the house did not function well; there were angled doorways and narrow paths of travel. The principal bedroom was far too large and the attached ensuite too small. The owner’s wish list included a built-in soaker tub in one of the bathrooms, an improved laundry room, and more logical paths of travel to service the rear deck. In order to accommodate the best layout, we flipped the bedroom and bathroom in the principal suite, creating a lovely walk-through closet. The angled doorways were straightened and we created much needed storage built-ins in the hallway and laundry. The door to the rear deck moved approximately 12” allowing space for travel and a wall of cabinetry. We worked closely with the contractors and trades on site during the construction phase, and specified all materials and products.

PROJECT OUTCOME
We’re thrilled with how this space now functions; we used every inch to accommodate storage, display, and good furniture layouts. The ensuite with the walk-through closet works well for this family while still providing privacy. The materials and overall aesthetics are exactly what the client had asked for: timeless, warm materials with a suggestion of country living.
